Bali is a vegetarian’s dream place.

It’s full of healthy eateries and wellness areas. We explored Ubud for the month and tried as many vegetarian and vegan restaurants as we could. Here are a few of our favourites.

Dayu’s Warung

Dayu’s Warung is a lovely little cafe with all vegetarian food. The chef believes in only the very best fresh ingredients and gets her food inspiration from around the world. You can get delicious smoothie bowls for around 3-4 dollars. They have Balinese Nasi that is delicious, you’ll want to try everything on the menu! It’s open till 10pm so plenty of time to pop in even for just a late night juice. We also had the most amazing chocolate zucchini cake, so good in fact we went back two times for it! They also have a little rack of biscuits and juices you can buy to go.

Kafe

Kafe is a great spot for everything vegetarian/vegan/any dietary requirements you prefer! It’s a busy spot with lots of tourists. However if you go upstairs you can find a peaceful little spot to relax on the cushions.
There is a menu full of so many different kind of fresh juices & smoothies that you could spend all day trying to decide what to order. I was so overwhelmed with wanting to try everything. Being a vegetarian for so long, I’ve gotten used to only having a few (V) options to choose from.
I tried the Japanese soba noodles, fresh spring rolls and loved how fresh and flavourful everything tasted. Plus the chai masala is just lovely!

Warung Sopa

A tranquil Japanese garden with bamboo decor. It’s situated within some organic independent shops. Take your shoes off and relax on the comfortable cushions. Here you’ll find a mix of vegetarian Japanese/Balinese style food, as well as non vegetarian dishes. We have been 3 times, and each time has been exactly what we felt like! We started with a moringa drink which has a nutty unique flavour and so healthy too. The vegetarian dumplings were delicious as well as the miso soup, and don’t forget the homemade desserts! Full of yum!

Sawobali

You’ll see a large sign out sign saying VEGAN BUFFET. The vegan buffet is bursting with incredible flavours. It is a little family run business. They create traditional Balinese food that is all vegan, as well as gluten free cakes and treats. The best part is the amazing value for what you get. It’s only $5 for all you can eat, which is a vegan buffet that changes for lunch & dinner. So you can even come back twice during the day! Each dish in the buffet is mixed with beautiful spices. We loved the bamboo and mango dish. This is one of the best value meals we had.
